Frances Caso alleges that her German Shepherd, Rocky, was taken on his birthday and raises concerns about an ongoing estate dispute in Bergen County.

Frances Caso, executrix of the Estate of Concetta Caso in Bergen County Superior Court, is seeking the return of her German Shepherd, Rocky, whom she alleges was taken on August 28, 2026.

In a public statement posted online, Caso said Rocky was taken at approximately 4:30 p.m. on his birthday and has not been returned. She describes the dog as her property and registered service/work dog under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

“Rocky is the last living member of my household,” Caso wrote, describing the emotional significance of the dog following the deaths of her daughter and mother, who died approximately a year apart.

Allegations Involving Attorneys

Caso alleges that attorney Albert H. Wunsch III and his associate, Matthew Puma, were responsible for Rocky being taken. She also names Marc R. Berman of Cole Schotz, whom she says has been connected to the family’s estate matters since 2005.

According to Caso, the dispute extends beyond the dog to the administration and control of her late mother’s estate. She alleges that the attorneys acted together in ways that affected both her access to Rocky and her involvement in the estate.

Caso further states that Wunsch had received a trespass warning approximately one week before the incident. These assertions reflect her account of the events and have not been independently verified.

Police Report Dispute

Caso also alleges that the Englewood Cliffs Police Department refused to take a report concerning Rocky’s alleged removal. She specifically names Sergeant Ford, whom she says declined to accept the report on the day of the incident.

Caso states that she has a recording of the alleged refusal. The recording has not been independently reviewed for this article.

She characterizes the matter as involving potential wrongdoing related to the dog and her late mother’s estate. She also raises concerns about the response of local authorities.

Calls for Accountability

In her public statement, Caso refers to the Estate of Concetta Caso proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey. She alleges that the circumstances surrounding Rocky’s removal and the estate dispute warrant scrutiny.

Caso cites New Jersey statute N.J.S.A. 2C:20-4, which addresses theft by deception, and calls for the conduct of the individuals she names to be reviewed. No determination of criminal liability is established by her allegations alone.

The claims concerning the estate, the attorneys, and the police response would require independent verification through court records, relevant documentation, and responses from the parties involved.

A Request for Rocky’s Return

Despite the broader estate dispute, Caso says her immediate priority is recovering her dog.

“I want my dog back,” she wrote. “He was taken on his birthday and he has not been returned.”

As of the date of her statement, Caso says Rocky had not been returned. The available material does not establish whether the dog has since been recovered or whether any legal or law-enforcement action has been taken in connection with the allegations.

The attorneys and other parties named in Caso’s statement have not provided responses in the material reviewed for this article. Their positions, along with any relevant court findings or official records, remain unverified.
